Living My Life…

“And I’ve tried
To be like everybody
But that’s not my style.
Living
Life on someone else’s terms
I’d like to
Escape this life for a while.”
– “Last Chance Dreams” - Dirty Shannon

How often do you find yourself living your life this way? Living based on someone else’s expectations of you. Living your life a certain way, just to fit in with everyone else. Trying SO hard to not stand out of the crowd.

That is NOT the way to live!

Your life is meant for you, to be lived by you, and no one else will EVER be able to live it for you. We all seem to fall into this mindless trap at some point or another. We give the power of our life and the ability to truly live to someone else.

We allow another person, that can’t see or feel our hearts or souls, to make the decisions of what’s BEST for us and our life. Now, in all honesty, there is a part of ourselves that IS conditioned for this behavior. We’re taught from an early age that there are people that know what’s best for you. That would be our parents. The problem comes when our parents don’t teach us to stand on our own two feet and live our lives. It’s a hard thing for a parent to do…letting go. But eventually, whether you want it to happen or not, letting go will happen.

The question for every parent is…have you prepared your kids to let go and fly on their own?

The sad fact is; we as humans are SO good at avoiding responsibility for our actions, that we’d rather have someone else deciding how our lives should go. It’s almost more comfortable that way. And it certainly gives us someone to point at when life doesn’t turn out the way we want it to. But you want to know something? You have no one else to blame but YOURSELF!

With the New Year fast approaching and this being a time for resolutions and renewals, I hope that everyone can make the resolution to themselves to start, in small ways, to live your life on your own terms, for yourself, being true to your heart and soul and not giving your life’s power away to ANYONE else. Stand on your own two feet, be responsible for your life, and live a responsible life. Any other kind of life will leave you wanting, lost, and frustrated down to your very soul.

God only gave you this one shot, this one life, grab hold of it with both hands and don’t let go. Make it your own and be proud to live the life that you’ve been given.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Marianne Williamson

Now is the time to rise to your feet and discover what YOUR life is meant to be like. Take back your power and live from your heart.

And when you shine, shine with everything you’ve got!

Good quotes today. Reminders of what we are doing when we are on autopilot are always welcome. Reminds me of something I read in the Ensign yesterday.
